After eating lunch I along with my colleagues begin to feel the on set of fatigue. What can on do to offset the yawns, exhaustion, and of course the sleepies with hours of teaching still left in the day? After doing some quick research and testing out the reliability of this resource the best remedy to beat the afternoon sleepies is dark chocolate...who would have thought?! Dark chocolate surprisingly contains caffeine. Dark chocolate does not have as much caffeine as coffee but it will do the trip to give you an extra boost to stay awake and motivated.
Grab a bag of Hershey's dark kisses and enjoy!

Mid-Morning Hunger
I typically find myself staring at the clock around 11am wishing it were my 12:30 lunch break! I sometimes wonder if I am going to make it or if I am going to faint from starvation during one of my lessons...!!!! After the first month of school I realized that starving and being beyond hungry did not mix well with teaching so I developed a mid-morning slump reliever.
I have a five minute break between classes and I have learned that in that time I am able to have a quick celery snack. When I was younger celery was a watery vegetable with little flavor but now a days it is my morning life saver. I love to snack on celery with ranch dressing, it easily holds me over until lunch time.
Tip!
Cutting up celery into bite size servings can be a daily time consumer. Try meal prepping on a Sunday night and divided a head of celery into five equal portions that you can easily store during the week and grab when needed. Also, ranch cups or hummus cups for on the go are perfect compliments to celery snacks.
Happy snacking!

Good Morning Sunshine!
Most mornings I am jumping out of bed and rushing around to get ready for the start of the day only to realize that I need to quickly eat breakfast!!! My options are...
1) A bagel with cream cheese
2) A pop-tart
3) A Smoothie
4) Completely skip the meal (yikes, absolutely not!!!!)
Luckily I have gotten into the habit of choosing option 3, a smoothie! Every morning I set aside 2 minutes in which I can quickly make a nutrious smoothie that I can drink on my commute to school or once I get there. It has been a life saver for me!
Banana (Apple) Morning Power!
*1 large banana
*1/2 sliced apple (I only ever add this when I have a few extra minutes in the morning. The apple does contribute to a sweeter flavor)
*5 individual almonds
*1/2 cup of almond milk
*6 tablespoons of non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
**Blend on high for 30-45 seconds and you will have a ready to go breakfast smoothie that will keep you on your feet and smiling until lunch time or later**

Welcome
Welcome to Fella Eats Healthy! I intend to post some recipes that I have created, come to love, or even substitutions that I've been using to try and stay healthy. Currently I am an elementary school teacher and often I am faced with little free time to invest in strenuous healthy cooking so here are some recipes and options that I have adopted to go with my busy life style. Enjoy!
